Being in a caregiver role can be isolating. But we in The Arch Foundation want you to know that you’re not on this journey alone. We are here to support family caregivers.
One day The Arch Foundation founder, Heather, met a gentleman at Craig Hospital during her son Connor's rehab while in line at the Craig cafeteria with his daughters. He didn't have enough to pay for his grilled cheese and fries for his girls. She said, “No worries I can get this.” He turned around and gave her a huge hug and started to cry. He looked at her and said, "I got the next round. We are all family here aren't we sister?" as tears were running down his face. She was fighting back her tears and replied, "Yes we are".
She went back to her room and called her husband, saying, “the last thing a caregiver and loved one needs to worry about is feeding yourself or family while having to go through this. When we get through this we should start a fund to help caregivers”.
And The Arch Foundation was created. Our “This Round Is On Us” event is to do just that - bring community awareness to what we do in supporting family caregivers. We’ll have cocktails, conversation, food, and activities with Golden Poppy helping people make aromatherapy spray, while sharing education and information about how we build a community for family caregivers.
